Personal Reflection

I was born in Xinyang, a city hailed as Northern Jiangnan with picturesque mountains and rivers just like south regions of the Yangtze River in China. It is always said that a region with plenty of fish and rice like this will endow its people with genius and versatility. Therefore, art, something nature gives me, has become part of my life since my early age. Accompanying with art, I grow up.

Reserving the passion to art, I chose to study in the specialized art class when I was in high school. However, this was also the first time I realized art was no longer the favorite hobby to me, which someday would help to build up my career. So under the support of my parents, I started to learn some professional art like playing piano and traditional Chinese drawing from a teacher. To and from my home to the class, which almost cost me several hours, but I never felt frustrated, because I knew only persistence could bring success, and lead me step further on my future road. Through by continuous efforts, I have made a further progress in the art field. I therefore developed my lifelong aspirations, and have the opportunity to make art as a major part of my life.

No pains, no gains. The year 2012 witnessed my smooth enrollment in Sias International University, which is the first Sino-US cooperative university in central plain in China and provides students an international environment focusing on the development of students academically and spiritually. During the undergraduate period, my major Music Production taught me how to understand music in a systematic way, how to analyze the music in an abstract way and how to make music in a technical way. Due to my intelligence and hard-working ability, I always keep top level among my classmates and gained high remarks in my core modules. As a result of which I was given the title of Excellent Undergraduate by Henan Education Bureau and awarded the scholarship for overseas education by Sias.

After my graduation, a sudden chance came when I was elected as the music producer and director of Children Spring Festival Gala by Zhejiang TV, in which I was mainly in charge of making and directing videos. It was the first time I had my hands on a camera and by the end of the program, I had written, directed, edited and produced four videos. Both thrilled and humbled by my experience, I sprouted the idea that bring what I acquired in music making into the craft of moviemaking and combine the two together. After about one month of dedicated hard work, I had not even scratched the surface of what encompasses becoming a filmmaker, but I had reinforced my love for filmmaking. At this point, I knew I needed additional education to accomplish my goals and to truly push my creative and intellectual limits if I were to master the craft of filmmaking. Thus, with a scholarship at hand, I chose to pursue my dreams immediately out of college. I absorbed myself into thinking my passion for filmmaking was not only just a spur for the moment, but also a lifelong mission that I would be better off pursuing a more promising career, one with respect and a high salary. I knew what I had to do; I may have known it all along, since my childhood. But I needed time and a chance to work up the courage, to make myself determined to succeed.

Therefore, equipped with solid professional basis and keen learning desire, I hope I can build up a career in moviemaking. That is why I plan to continue my studies at the graduate school level to have the opportunity to interact and share knowledge with students who are as focused and excited about moviemaking as I am. I want to be an explorer and to face challenges that I can solve with sheer will and creativity. Luckily, in the first semester I contacted a digital journalism course that I could apply to, and it gave me a chance to become a journalist!

In this semester's Digital News Report, I learned a lot of things and knowledge I have never touched before, it makes me like a journalist to think, dare to face the lens, also let me make a lot of friends. I think this course is a comprehensive class of classes, including grammar, words use, punctuation, ideas, rewrite, communication, video shooting, video edit, audio recording and production, the promotion, induction and summary.

I used to like watching legal programs, and I often see journalists following events and exposing bad things. At that time I thought the reporter was very cool, their pen is like a gun, uphold justice, do not fear the dark forces, and stand with people.

When I was a bachelor's degree, I thought it was interesting to see a student journalist interviewing someone or something on campus. I've always wanted to try but I've always felt that I was not professional enough and need to continue study more. By studying the digital news report, gave me a chance to be a journalist.

We have three stories in this semester, in order to let us to adapt to the entire learning process, Dr. Loggins madeed a step-by-step plan for us and let We spend three weeks to do every stories. The first week is to write a pitch, the second week is to interview and make sure there is enough material and source for the final report, and the third week is the final report. Because I like to spread, so I hope that through my power to spread the culture around the world. They are Chinese culture, American culture and African culture in my course on digital journalism this semester. Luckily, in the course of my three reports, just three events occurred, giving me ample material and source. In fact it is difficult for me to prepare every step, but when I imagine that I will eventually create a professional news report, I have become full of energy!

After a study of repetitive submissions, I'm used to writing two of tweets and a blog every week, and even after the course is over, I still want to share with my fans the things that have happened or are happening around me, or publish some professional topics. By communicating with them I can know more information and some new ideas, and I think it makes sense to do so.

Our last job is to submit a portfolio, mainly from various aspects to introduce themselves, including CV, personal experience, autobiography, professional skills, to promote and promote themselves. As a journalist, we need to have the ability to report and promote, and they need to find ways to attract and interest the audience. What's more, to report and promote yourself so that future employers will be interested in us? Dr. Loggins is really well-intentioned.

In general, the digital news report is a very practical subject, finally I would like to thank my Professor Dr.loggins and my classmates who helped me,they are Haley, alex, tristanand Gypsy, thank them in the study of my help, in this period of learning to accompany me progress. Thanks again!
